These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Teacher Retirement Lab’s website, tools, and reports (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Who we are

Teacher Retirement Lab provides general educational information and planning tools for NYC public school educators. We are not TRS, the DOE, the UFT, or any government agency, and we are not a financial, legal, tax, or accounting advisor. See our Disclaimer for important details.

2. Educational use only

All content, calculators, and reports are for general educational purposes and are estimates only. They are not official benefit calculations or professional advice, and you should confirm any number or decision with TRS, your union representative, a CPA, and an attorney, as appropriate.

3. Your account

Some features require an account, accessed by a secure link sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information, and do not enter another person’s personal information without their consent.

4. Paid reports and payment

Certain reports are offered for a one-time fee, shown before purchase and processed by a third-party payment provider. Refunds are handled as described in the Disclaimer (Refund Policy). Because reports are generated on demand from the information you enter, they are personalized to you.

5. Acceptable use

  • Use the Services only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes.
  • Do not copy, resell, scrape, or redistribute our content or reports without permission.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Services.

6. Intellectual property

The Services, including text, design, and tools, are owned by Teacher Retirement Lab or its licensors and are protected by law. A report you purchase is licensed for your own personal use.

7. Third-party links and Partners

The Services may link to or introduce you to third parties. We are not responsible for their content, services, or practices, and any dealings with them are solely between you and that third party. See the Disclaimer (Section 4) for our referral disclosures.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Services are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Teacher Retirement Lab is not liable for damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Services. The full disclaimers and limitation of liability in our Disclaimer (Sections 5 and 6) are incorporated into these Terms.

9. Changes to the Services and Terms

We may update the Services or these Terms at any time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision, and continued use after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing law
