Pension Estimate Calculator

A quick, plain-language estimate of your annual TRS pension — shown as a range, never a single promise. For Tiers IV and VI.

This is an educational estimate based only on the information you entered. It is not an official TRS benefit calculation and may not reflect current rules or your full circumstances. Before making any final or irrevocable retirement election, confirm your numbers with TRS directly and consult your union rep, a CPA, and an attorney.

How this is calculated (sources)

Formula: annual pension ≈ Final Average Salary × benefit percentage. FAS is projected from your salary using a 1.5%–3.5%/yr growth band (that band is what produces the low–high range).

Tier IV (TRS Tier III/IV SPD): 1.67% × years under 20 yrs; 2% × years for 20–29; 60% + 1.5% × (years−30) for 30+. Unreduced at 62, or 55–62 with 30+ years.

Tier VI (TRS Tier VI Brochure 79): 1.67% × years under 20 yrs; 35% + 2% × (years−20) for 20+. FAS = highest 3 years for retirements on/after April 2024. Unreduced at 63.

Early retirement: if you retire before the unreduced age with too few years, your benefit is permanently reduced. This calculator shows the unreduced estimate and flags when a reduction applies — ask TRS for your exact factor.

Values current as of 2026-07-16 and flagged for verification. Tiers I/II/III/V are not modeled — contact TRS.
